A commis chef's job description includes:
Food preparation: Measuring, peeling, chopping, and mixing ingredients
Kitchen deliveries: Receiving and ensuring that all requested products are of high quality and arrive on schedule
Stock management: Monitoring stock movement and ordering
Cleaning: Cleaning and sanitizing workstations
Hygiene: Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene and keeping a clean uniform
Assisting chefs: Helping with other duties, such as plating and presenting culinary items
Reporting problems: Reporting any problems that may occur in the section to the chef de partie
Following company procedures: Adhering to company procedures for temperature checks, food labeling and dating, cleaning schedules, and hygiene regulations
